Filmmaking Residency

The Festival International du Film Indépendant de Bordeaux (FIFIB) is launching an application call for L’Atelier, a creative residency dedicated to the development of fiction feature films. The residency is open to both international and French filmmakers.

Residency Objectives

L’Atelier du FIFIB supports projects at an advanced development stage, with the aim of facilitating their production within Bordeaux Métropole’s area. The residency focuses on preparing for shooting, particularly through location scouting connected to local resources.


✨ Residency Conditions

Duration: 8 days, from November 7 to 14, 2025
Location: Chalet Baron, Lormont (https://www.chaletbaron.com/)
Working languages: French and/or English

 

✨ Eligibility

This call is open to directors developing a fiction or documentary feature film project:

  • At an advanced stage of development (finalized treatment, scouting underway or planned);

  • That can be partially or entirely shot in Bordeaux’s metropolitan area.


✨ Support Offered

  • Full coverage of accommodation and meals during the residency
  • Creation grant
  • Hosting of a consultant of the filmmaker’s choice for two days (e.g. director of photography, casting director, line producer…)
  • Networking with local film technicians
  • Workshops with heads of departments from the region
  • Workshop with the deparment Film Commission
  • Logistical support for location scouting
  • Public presentation of the projects at the end of the residency to distributors and broadcasters


✨ Application Requirements

Applications must include:

  • A cover letter (max. 1 page) specifying the goals for the residency and intended links with Bordeaux’s areas
  • A synopsis and a detailed treatment (max. 10 pages) of the feature film project
  • A director’s statement
  • A presentation of the consultant invited to the residency
  • Links to previous films
  • A provisional development and production schedule
