Official synopsis

Bigna, a 28-year-old scientist, controls her entire existence, including her enigmatic sex life. As for him, Frank, 33, seeks meaning in his own life by feeding on the affection of others and plunging into the darkness of artificial paradises. Those contradictory trajectories meet, get intertwined and culminate in mad love.

The programmer’s eye

In his wonderfully successful documentary “Europe, She Loves” (2016), Jan Gassman already offered an immersion in the intimacy of couples. His first feature, “99 Moons”, focuses on the evolution of a couple over the long term in an essential search for freedom and an attempt to escape the constraints of heteronormativity. This quest builds a fantastic geography of cinema: extraordinary parties take place behind the door of an unlikely restaurant, and Michelle Gurevich's songs give the shadows of heterosexuality a denser colour, lit by multiple moons. One of the most amazing films of 2022.
