Official synopsis

A collage of images and sounds of Amy Johnson, a pioneer aviator of the 1930s, “Amy!” questions the notion of heroine: who can be one, what are the others, what social frustrations does her existence reflect?

The programmer’s eye

Originally made to celebrate the 50th anniversary of pioneering aviator Amy Johnson's plane trip, the film explores that woman’s many facets through a collage of images and sounds. With a style reminiscent of Maya Deren’s films or Gertrude Stein’s phrasing, the film questions what a heroic figure is.
