Official synopsis

Paris in the middle of August. While looking for a place to dance, Janna and Aurea, two girls in their early twenties, get lost. Their nocturnal wandering in the deserted city leads them to show what they are made of.

The programmer’s eye

“Elles allaient danser” has the grace and false lightness of summer movies, a perfect season for tales of carefree strolls. Using the search of a place to dance as a pretext, Laïs Decaster films the nocturnal and existential stroll of two suburban young women on the banks of the Seine. The latter stand as a unity of time and place that is conducive to nocturnal confessions and the unveiling of who the girls and strangers they meet are. This aerial film brilliantly captures the questions of contemporary youth, and reveals two amazing actresses in the making, Auréa Decaster and her friend Janna Arouci. — Mélissa Blanco
