Official synopsis

One of many millennial causalities of Europe’s stagnant economy, 25-year-old Pia seeks a fresh start and returns home to live with her mother. A crossmedia project, a feature, a series and an art installation at once, Heis (chronicles) borrows from Youtube or the slam culture, and documents with a dreamlike texture the challenge faced by this « 90s kids and 2010s grown-ups, who switched from the feeding bottle to unemployment without noticing it.”

Biography and Filmography

Anaïs Volpé is a self-taught screenwriter, director and editor. After several years in the theater world as an actress, she trained as a director by working on several films, from writing to editing. In 2016, she wrote, directed, edited and self-produced the cross-media project “Heis” (“Chronicle”), composed of a feature film, a series and an art installation. The project was exhibited in various artistic venues and selected in several international film festivals (Festival International de Rotterdam-IFFR, Premiers Plans d'Angers, FIFIB...) and awarded a prize at the Los Angeles Film Festival in 2016, thus becoming eligible for the Independent Spirit Awards. She then co-directed the documentary series “In the jungle, with a little butter knife…”, which was supported by the CNC and questions the concept of diploma and the way the school system works in France. For “The Braves”, her first feature film, she collaborated with the American director of photography Sean Price Williams (Good Time, Mad Love in New York).
