Official synopsis

A young Finnish woman escapes an enigmatic love affair in Moscow by boarding a train to the arctic port of Murmansk. She's forced to share the long ride and a tiny sleeping car with a Russian miner. That unexpected encounter leads the occupants of Compartment no. 6 to face the truth about their own yearning for human connection.

The programmer’s eye

Under apparent simplicity, the film unwinds the complex thread of feelings which troubles and connects human souls, navigating atmospheres that oscillate between flesh and snow. The breathtaking actors play with our emotions, using both delicacy and depth. “Compartment Number 6”, which was awarded the Grand Jury Prize in Cannes this year is a film one leaves with a (Slavic) soul and a full heart.
