Official synopsis

The teenagehood of Lucas, 17, is suddenly shattered. With the help of his brother, who has gone to Paris, and his mother, with whom he now lives alone, Lucas has to learn to hope and love again.

The programmer’s eye

Drama anchors the life and adventure drive of the teenager played by Paul Kircher in the new feature by Christophe Honoré, a film about the metamorphosis of misfortune into happy grief. The young actor marvellously embodies the stammering state of teenagehood opposite Vincent Lacoste, a prominent brother who initiates him to culture and the capital city. The most beautiful impulses of life are propelled from the shadows and to the bewitching music of Andrea Laszlo de Simone, and that’s exactly what the FIFIB’s opening ceremony wishes for. Art is definitely one of the best remedies ever.

Biography and Filmography

After studying in Rennes, Christophe Honoré moved to Paris in 1995 and began a career as a children's author. He then started writing screenplays and directing for the theatre (and later for the opera) and signed his first feature film, “Seventeen Times Cécile Cassard”, in 2002. This was followed by several successes that affirmed his appetite for the subtleties of human relationships: My Mother (2004), Inside Paris (2006) and “Love Songs” (2007), in competition at Cannes the same year. His love of music earned him a César nomination for the soundtrack of “Beloved” (2011), composed by Alex Beaupain. In 2018, Honoré received the Prix Louis-Delluc for “Sorry Angel”, then reunited with his muse, Chiara Mastroianni, in “On a Magical Night” (2019). Interrupted by the pandemic, he filmed the rehearsals for his first production at the Comédie-Française, which resulted in the film “Guermantes”, inspired by Marcel Proust, released in 2021.
