Official synopsis
Dorothy’s a film director and a bit of a loser. One night, after a few beers, she lets loose on her script when a call from her producer kills her buzz: enough with the queer comedies, it’s time to start making mainstream films. To avoid sinking to the deepest depths of despair, Dorothy seeks comfort in her favorite TV show, "Romy the Vampire Slayer". Unfortunately, her own demons show up.
The programmer’s eye
Awarded the Short Film Grand Prize in 2019, Alexis Langlois outdoes himself by staging his demons who are just as much his own as those of a cinema locked in a certain normativity. By giving free rein to the expression of his anxieties, he creates a self-fiction comedy that reinvents the pathos usually linked to that genre. It’s a pleasurable gesture of cinema where the audacity, or should I say the cheek of a director, asks to be accepted as it is, without having to stunt in the mirror reflection of those who finance, decide and hold the world. The film is political on the issue of representations, as well as funny and clever. Essential!
