Official synopsis
Cassandre, 26, works as an air hostess for a low-cost airline. Living from day to day, she accumulates flights and parties, remaining faithful to her Tinder nickname "Carpe Diem". As the pressure from her company intensifies, Cassandre ends up feeling overwhelmed. Will she be able to face the pains she buried and return to those she left on the ground?
The programmer’s eye
As lucid as it is sensitive, first feature film “Zero Fucks Given” shows Cassandre scrolling down her Instagram feed, as she’d look through her plane window to see many potential lives, ever smiling as an emoji would. Adèle Exarchopoulos perfectly embodies this hostess propelled into the air from parties to drunken sex sessions. Fully incarnated moments follow empty ones; one enjoys all the better when one forgets to inhabit an identity that is loaded with past sadness and bereavement. The film skillfully captures that intermediate space, the evanescence of the fragrance of a perfume bought at the duty-free shop, of a world which is happily heading for a fall. — Natacha Seweryn
Biography and Filmography
Emmanuel Marre and Julie Lecoustre live and work between Paris and Brussels. In 2016, Emmanuel Marre directed “The Summer Movie” (Jean Vigo Prize, Grand Prize at the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival in 2017). In 2018, Julie Lecoustre joined him to write, conceive and direct “Castle to Castle” (Pardino d’oro in Locarno). In 2020, they went on collaborating by co-directing “Zero Fucks Given”.
