Marie 1 and Marie 2 are feeling really bored. Tired of finding no meaning to life, they spread disorder and scandal in public places. A founding film for Lio, “Daisies” deeply marked her artistic universe with its audacity, freedom, feminism and explosion of colors.
Biography and Filmography
Věra Chytilová was one of the first women to study directing at the Film School in Prague (which she did between 1957 and 1962). She got praised for the films she directed while there – “Green Street” and “Kocicina - Pan Ká” (1960). With “Daisies” (1966), she definitely abandoned the style of “cinéma vérité” that was specific to the New Wave and produced an experimental work that earned her worldwide recognition.
