Official synopsis

What does "military occupation" stand for? Through the testimonies of the soldiers who implemented it, director Avi Mograbi provides insights on how a colonialist occupation functions and the logic at work behind those practices so as to draw a “Manual for Military Occupation”.

The programmer’s eye

Avi Mograbi continues his 30-year anti-Zionist commitment, this time through an anti-manual or guide full of cold irony on the occupation of territories by a third party. The way the film is built – i.e. a succession of archive images and speeches punctuated by the narrative presence of the filmmaker – is surprisingly didactic, and manages to clarify the mechanisms of a conflict deemed difficult to access. The gaze is directed towards specific truths, the film assumes its partisanship and doesn’t include its criticism in its diegesis - it decides, castigates, and convinces.
