Official synopsis

Noah, a young man in search of his identity, is invited by his best friend, Ethan, to take part in the expeditions he organises with his gang in the depths of the metro. In this in-between world, where they compete to find their place, Ethan challenges the teenagers to jump over the rails before the train arrives. For Noah, risking his life seems to be the only way to be accepted and above all to exist in Ethan's eyes.

The programmer’s eye

After “The New Gods”, Loïc Hobi blows a lyrical flurry in the corridors of an empty metro station that has become a playground. “The Life Underground” vibrates with a circulation of glances between five teenagers for whom the adventure lies as much in the clandestine occupation of a place and the danger of the rite of passage as in learning about their desires. Using a fine black and white cinematography, as well as a full and feverish jazzy orchestral soundtrack, Loïc Hobi weaves the poetics of a space that one leaves only to catch one's breath, and to dive even deeper in the quest for one's identity. — Mathilde Guitton-Marcon
